THE Latina ARMY, Inc. 

                         

THE Latina ARMY, Inc. is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young Latinas.  In a national effort, accomplished Latinas give two hours of their time to talk to young girls at their local school or community center, and help them envision a brighter and successful future.    

Our goal is to empower one million Latinas.  The mission of THE Latina ARMY is to create a movement that will plant the seeds of success in the minds of each Latina we speak to, while creating a national awareness that will generate resources and aid to all Latino communities.  Our message will help our girls understand that any obstacle can be overcome with hard work and determination.   

According to statistics, young Latinas hold the highest rates of attempted suicide, teenage pregnancy, staggeringly high rates of HIV infections, and the second highest high school drop out rate in the nation, closely following Latino boys who currently rank the highest.  This is a national crisis that requires an army's attention.   

By the year 2050 1 in 4 U.S. women will be of Hispanic descent.  We represent the future of this country.  We need to take action NOW.
